Annual Used Book Sale– FOIL is requesting books for the used book sale. Preferably, drop your books off during the days and hours that the library is open. On alternate days,please set them in front of the double door entry to the Noble Barn.

We need clean, gently used books. FOIL is asking that you please find another home for out of date computer books ,text books, dictionaries,travel books older than 3 yrs, VHS tapes and old encyclopedias.These have all exceeded their “use by” date, even at a used book sale.

The sale will open Saturday, Jun 22nd, 10:00 AM-7:00 PM.

Funds raised at the book sale are used to maintain the building and grounds and to sponsor events and programs at Island Library.

Happy Trails to Brooke- Brooke’s last day as library manager is Mar 11th. Please stop in and help us give Brooke a proper Lummi Island sendoff. May 11th, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Zimbabwe-Then and Now Wilson Mhasho from Zimbabwe will be visiting Dan and Heidi Dittrich on Lummi Island. The Mhasho-Dittrich friendship began more than twenty-five years ago, when Heidi taught at Africa University . The Dittrichs have maintained an active business and social connection with Wilson through the years. Heidi and Dan will briefly describe their 1997-1998 visit to Zimbabwe, Dan and Wilson will talk about the changes in Zimbabwe and the current conditions. Thursday, May 23, 6:30—8:00 PM. Island Storytime -For ages 2-6, 30 minutes. An open program that includes stories, rhymes, and songs with opportunities for movement and interactive participation. Sat.,May 4th,10:30. For early years

Island A Salmon’s Journey – Celebrate the return of the Chinook salmon to the Nooksack River as we read a Tlingit version of the story Shanyaak’utlaax̲/Salmon Boy illustrated by 2021 Caldecott winner and Tlingit/Haida artist Michaela Goade. After the story, we will color and cut out the 5 local species of salmon to make a collage or mobile. We look forward to learning and creating with you! All materials provided. Sat., May 11, 2:00-3:00PM. For grades K–5

The Friends of Island Library( FOIL) is a local non-profit that owns the Island Library property; supports the Library through fundraising and promoting the purposes and activities of the Island Library and its community.

The FOIL Board meets monthly on the third Monday of the month. The next meeting will be on May 20 at 3:00 PM at the library. All library patrons are welcomed.
