Our Mission

F.O.I.L.’s mission is to provide a physical facility, support, and promote the purposes and activities of the Island Library and its community.

F.O.I.L. provides (owns) the library building and raises money to maintain the library property.

F.O.I.L. supports library programs, encourages the use of library resources and services, and provides funds for and volunteers hours to special projects. We promote community awareness of libraries, advocate robust funding for Whatcom County Libraries, and support the freedom of individuals to read what they wish.
