FOIL’s Annual Meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 21at at 4:00 PM at the Library. We will review the year’s accomplishments and elect board members for the coming year. Come meet the FOIL Board and hear about FOIL’s next project – replacing the Noble Barn.

Philosophy of Theoretical Physics: A Discussion Group- Are you curious about the mystery and mechanism of gravity, the nature, meaning, and problems of time, or the possibilities of many worlds and multiverses? Get together to discuss topics like these with Lee Moseley and your curious friends and neighbors, and explore the most vexing questions in theoretical physics. TED Talks – are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity. Watch engaging talks on the big screen in the Island Library’s meeting room and stay to share thoughts about the topic. October’s topic is The Brain. Friends of Island Library will provide snacks. Island Story Time – An open program that includes stories, rhymes, and songs with opportunities for movement and interactive participation. For ages 2-6, Sat., Nov. 3 , 10:30-11:00 AM.
Pizza and a Movie – Read the book, see the movie! Enjoy two hours of pizza and movies based on a book on the (fairly) big screen at Island Library. Advanced Care Planning Workshop– Making your health care choices known in advance is a gift to those you love. Join us for this dynamic presentation on advance care planning. Learn why advance care planning is important for everyone, commonly used terms, choosing someone to be your health care agent, how to talk with loved ones and doctors about your preferences around end-of-life care, and what to consider when making your choices. Navigating Health Care Options – Receive free, unbiased, confidential help with finding free or low-cost health care options from the Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement (WAHA).
